4. How to request a record
- Complete the prescribed PAIA request form (Form 2) available from www.inforegulator.org.za.
- Send it to the Information Officer at the email or address above.
- Give enough detail to identify the record and yourself, state the right you are trying to exercise, and say how you want to receive the record.
- We will respond within 30 days. That period may be extended by a further 30 days where the request is complex, and we will tell you if that happens.
5. Fees
A request fee and an access fee may apply, as prescribed in the PAIA regulations. There is no request fee for a personal requester asking for their own records, but reproduction fees may still apply. We will tell you what is payable before we process the request.
6. Grounds for refusal
We may refuse a request on the grounds set out in Chapter 4 of PAIA, including protection of another person's privacy, commercially sensitive third party information, legally privileged records, and records that would prejudice an investigation. If we refuse, we will give reasons and explain your remedies, which include an application to the Information Regulator or a court.
7. Availability
This manual is available on this website, at our offices, and free of charge on request in electronic form.
